Thank you for sharing, especially about your dreams. My coma was in February 2006 for 21 days and they also told my parents I had brain damage and would be a vegetable if I woke up and to prepare to have to decide to ‘pull the plug’ or not. I was only 10 years old, so the whole thing was just confusing. The day I woke up I was supposed to have a spinal tap 💀 lol they need to update their medical guidelines fr Mine was also just from getting sick! I got sick and it got worse and worse, turned into pneumonia then turned into MRSA and took out my left lung. I recovered pretty fully physically, it’s the emotional trauma getting me now. Definitely related when you said “I felt so useless”. I remember realizing I couldn’t read the book I had been reading. Or I couldn’t remember my times tables. All in all though, developmentally nothing too major. I hope you’re doing well! You are brave to share like this!!

I can’t believe this was five years ago. My grandpa is in a coma. He’s been in a coma this November he’s still in a coma today they say he’s not making any progress but he’s kind of moving a little bit more than he did so I don’t know if that’s progress but I just want to hear your story.

Hello Suki, I have an unconditional offer for MSc in Public and Social Communications from the LSE and Communication Science: Corporate communication at the University of Amsterdam. My aim is to work right after completing my master's. I know that LSE is very prestigious, but it is considerably (ten times more) expensive than Amsterdam Uni (30k vs 7-10k). At UvA, I have to take pre-masters which further extends my master's for four months. I am thinking of paying that much for LSE when I can pursue my master's for much less?

To most people getting a cold is nothing for for others of us it can be a frightening experience. I used to get a cold just like everyone else and be miserable for a week or so like everyone else. Then in February 2016 everything changed. I went on a trip to see family in Las Vegas (we were flying in from NC) and after mom and I got back we both got sick with respiratory infections. She took her usual meds and I went to the urgent care center because I was wheezing so they said it was an upper respiratory infection (I had worked in healthcare for about 15 years as well and was always ok) and to start antibiotics and an inhaler. No problem. The next morning when I woke up my breathing was much worse so we went to the ER where scans showed I had double pneumonia. Was admitted for overnight and discharged way too soon. That was in February 2016 and I had just spent 4 nights in the hospital the month before due to critically low potassium levels and I had sudden paralysis from it. In March I had to be admitted for a whole different reason but I was in the hospital for a week and then I was doing better until July. After seeing me and my vital signs just not looking good she sent me to the ER where I was admitted for two weeks for multiple issues. Splendid. Came home for a week and noticed that my legs and feet were terribly swollen. Tests showed no blood clots (have had it once already by then and it was pretty bad) but he was worried something was going on so they ordered for me to be admitted and before I even got to my room on the floor my oxygen levels were low so I had to go on oxygen. Apparently I had pneumonia again so that was my second pneumonia for 2016. Spent a week in the hospital and then went home and was ok until October when I had a bad GI infection and had to be admitted for 4 more days and again admitted for a solid week in November. My goal was for that November admission to be the last. My birthday is on 12/12 and I was turning 40. I had a bad feeling in my gut though. When 12/12 came with a nice surprise dinner by family I felt relieved. Then came 12/19/16 and I knew I wasn’t feeling well all day and my husband was working. That night I was already in bed and my ex checked on me to make sure I was ok before he climbed into the bed. He found me in bed laying in my own vomit with a fever over 105 and I was in delirium. He called 911 and I was taken to the hospital and remember waking up in the ICU. I was hospitalized for a solid month with severe sepsis and renal failure. My health has deteriorated since 2015 when I had my first close call with dying. Apparently I’m prone to pneumonia and since 2016 I’ve had it probably about 15 times and a lot of hospitalizations. I’m on my 3rd pneumonia since last July and only these last two I was able to treat all of it at home with outpatient IV antibiotics. I haven’t had a year since 2012 where I didn’t need to be admitted at least for 1 night and since 2015 I’ve had several admissions being a week or longer. So lucky me a common cold cab be life threatening once I get past the “cold stage”. I have CVID which is why this keeps happening. I’m immunocompramised! Thank you for sharing your story with us.

It's safer to cross on a crossing, but there's no law against crossing anywhere else. Our sockets gave switches because we use a higher voltage than the rest of the world (250 volts), so switch off with the switch before you pull the plug OR... You'll blow every fuse in the house You'll get a lethal shock. That's also why we have string-pull light switches in bathrooms.
